Pedernales Falls

Travis is leaving for bootcamp on June 8th.  We are sad and excited to see him go.  I can't wait to see the man he turns into.  We went to Pedernales Fall State Park in Johnson City, TX this weekend as a last family vacation before we see him off.  Here are a few pics from our visit.

Tourist In My Own Town

With the Swine Flu going around, my sub jobs have been few and far between.  I decided to get out there today and take pictures, but needed to go somewhere free.  I went to the different San Antonio missions and these are a few of my favorites from the day.

Japanese Tea Gardens

Today I had what I like to call a random acts of randomness.  I didn't have a sub job and decided to run a few errands.   I wasn't sure where I might end up so I took my camera with me.  Totally unplanned and by accident I ended up at the Japanese Tea Gardens.  Here are some of my favorites from my randomness today.

I have another Photo Club meeting on February 28th and our task before then was to shoot color.  I considered going back to the San Antonio Botanical Gardens and taking pictures of flowers in a particular garden they have there.  Sprawled throughout this garden are roses in an array of colors from crimson red to a delicate yellow.  It seemed like the perfect idea before I realized it was just too easy and figured we would all have pictures of flowers to show when me meet.  I thought about it for days before it finally hit me that I am currently living in probably one of the most colorful cities in all of Texas.  Where better to take pictures of color than in San Antonio?  When I think of the Mexican culture here, my head is filled with reds, greens, purples, and yellows; a photographers dream.  Tyler visited San Antonio's Historic Market Square with me on a Saturday, which he was not too thrilled about.  It was funny to watch him just stand there as he carried on conversations through text message on his phone.  I got a few good pictures, but was not totally satisfied.  The sun was hidden behind the clouds.  Cloudy days are not the prime time to take pictures when your goal is vibrant color, as many photography-obsessed individuals like myself know.  That next Monday I visited La Villita and Hemisfair Park.  La Villita is a historic arts and crafts shopping area adjacent to the Riverwalk.  If you know where the theater is on the Riverwalk where Miss Congeniality was filmed, this is where I am talking about.  It was still a cloudy day, but I stumbled across some pinwheels blowing in the breeze.  I watched them dance for a moment, taking in every angle before I raised my camera and captured the colors mixing together as they spun.  These instantly became some of my favorites and I could not wait to get them home and into Photoshop.  What I have here are some of my favorites for your enjoyment and mine.  Thanks for looking.

Took a photo class with Mary Stone today in Buda.  These are some of the shots I got and edited.  We are starting a photo club.  Mary is calling us the Buda Babes, but I think I might push for Shutter Chicks.
